Brian Williams, MSNBC, covered this news story yesterday which is emotional to watch. Brian said, "It is inspirational and educational."
Not sure how educational it is because evidently this is not the proper procedure to use, but it did have a positive outcome.
Of course, it caught my attention because Sugar is a Boxer. Many boxer owners name their pets after famous boxers, and it's my assumption this Boxer is named for Sugar Ray Leonard . . . just guessing.
Anyone who has read here a couple or four times knows that Boxers live at this place. You may remember our precious, Bubba, who has his very own YouTube video. The following video brought back memories of Bubba because he, too, had seizures. I held him many times during those episodes. Bubba never quit breathing, but he did bite his tongue, shake uncontrollably, and go blind for several minutes. Each time, the seizure lasted longer and became more intense. The vets diagnosed him with a brain tumor that was not curable. We made that gut-wrenching decision to let Bubba join his brother, Junior, at the Rainbow Bridge.
Sugar, the Boxer, was in one of Ron Pace's training classes when he had what they thought was a seizure and stopped breathing for two minutes. Ron is a trainer with Canyon Crest K9 in Tacoma, Washington, and is now considered a hero. Ron very calmly applied CPR and even gave Sugar mouth-to-nose resuscitation saving the dog's life.
The video is difficult to watch. I cried throughout the entire thing, but it does have a happy ending.
You may have to watch a 30-second commercial, but the video is moving and does have a happy ending. As indicated by the trainer in the second video, this may not have been the 'proper' procedure, but it did have a positive outcome. Also, not sure about the use of that choke collar on Sugar . . .
Today's Mon Funday must be prefaced. When this glob was created back in August of 2006, there was a group of us who became a tight-knit group of glob-buds. Probably because we all started globbing within a couple years or so of each other, so we bonded. I'll not try to list everyone because someone will be left out. Any of them still around who reads this will let you know who they are if they comment today. These bloggers and readers have been religiously reading and/or commenting here for quite sometime. There aren't that many, but they are here everyday.
With that being said, it is with GREAT JOY that I've come across some new glob-buds. I've not ventured out in a very long time to find new globs to leave my profound comments concerning their posts, so when I found that someone had invited me to join in today's Mon Funday, a Happy Dance ensued. At any rate, may I introduce you to:
These gals are hosting today and here is their challenge:
Splurge vs Steal . . . List five things you are willing to spend your hard earned cash on and five things you would rather steal (hypothetically) than waste your money on.
H-m-m-m.
I decided to conduct a survey. Here are some of the results:
Willing to spend hard earned cash on: (in no particular order)
beer magnesium anodes travel massages & other spa services clothes hobbies/entertainment foodie foods children/friends organizations/non-profits books / magazines items to sell on E-Bay cable TV/ internet / netflix education chocolate housekeeping / chauffeuring services food delivery services
Willing to 'steal' (hypothetically) than waste money on: (in no particular order)
medical bills taxes office supplies food clothes gasoline rent/house payment attorney fees utility bills transportation car maintenance for cars/house
Thank you to everyone who participated in my random survey !
Here is my list of what I'll gladly hand over cash to have:
1. Anything for my children/grandchildren 2. Medical research to keep all of us healthy/To cure something 3. Dogs/Books/Hobbies/Travel/ Entertainment/Internet 4. Gardening Supplies & Tools/Bird Feeders & Seed/Home Decorating 5. Life-long Learning Classes/Education/Gym/Yoga
As for me, it was difficult to process "stealing hypothetically." That phrase just would NOT register in my brain that I could be allowed to steal, even hypothetically.
Here is my list of what I would steal:
1. a kiss 2. third base 3. glance/look 4. the show 5. a heart 6. a basketball (defensive player from offensive player)
What would you spend your money on and what would you 'steal?'
