It all started Thursday, 6:00 a.m. Stuttgart, Germany time. That would be Wednesday, 10:00 p.m., Colorado Time.
Count them. Yes. That was 24 hours ago...TWENTY-FOUR hours ago ! And, we're still not home. We are close if you count Denver as being close to Grand Junction, but at this point, nothing is close unless I'm in my own bed...and I'm not.
But, at least we have a bed.
And, that's another story. A bed that we're paying for. Not United Airlines who gave us a voucher saying they would pay for it.
So, tell Holiday Inn that.
(We did.)
Then, Holiday Inn told us that until United Airlines pays their bill for past guests' vouchers, they will not honor anymore.
Furthermore, Holiday Inn told United Airlines the same thing.
Evidently, someone at United Airlines must not have received that particular memo because as of an hour ago, they are still issuing those useless vouchers to unsuspecting weary travelers.
My guess is that the two $15.00 food vouchers that the United Airlines agent handed us with a smile won't be any good either...unless we smear them with Nutella and just eat them.
In case you're wondering, HansMan and I have been away for the past month...we have set foot in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
It's so good to be home...at least almost home.
Until then, I'm writing this letter:
Dear United Airlines...or Dear United/Continental Airlines...or Dear Whoever You Are Now:
Because your flight out of Chicago was FORTY minutes late leaving, we missed our connection out of Denver to Grand Junction. There were no extra seats on the last flight out, so your kind agent graciously gave us a hotel voucher and two food vouchers that aren't worth the paper they are printed on.
Evidently, you haven't paid Holiday Inn for previous guests staying here; therefore, we are paying for our own room.
Thanks a lot.
Sincerely,
A future Delta flyer
