Oh. Just checking out my blog and realized I've not been here in a very long time. H-m-m-m.
Was it Mr. Murphy who said, "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong?" Or something like that ?
Now, don't get me wrong, a lot of things have gone right. Mainly, that new Baby DubYa is doing fine after a little hiccup in the beginning. Scroll down for that story.
Mommy is doing fine.
Daddy is doing fine, too.
And, yes, Little Miss P is the best big sistah evah.
But, let me just "briefly" explain what transpired along the way, starting with the box full of matted and framed photographs that FedEx must have dropped out of their airplane.
Five of the seven photographs, mats, glass, and frames were destroyed. By the condition of the box, and everything in it, the plane must have been flying very high and very fast.
The process of filing a claim is not for the faint of heart, or those in a hurry. I've listened to all the songs that play while being placed on hold...several times.
But, I digress...
My departure date was January 7. Home for January 8. On a beach in Mexico January 9. Obviously, that didn't happen because the scenery around me never had any sandy beaches or palm trees.
It has however, had ice, snow, sub zero temperatures and roads slicker than snot. Last night there was thunder, lightning, rain, and maybe some hail.
Oh, pinch me. I remember now. I'm in "Okrahoma." I've been in "Okrahoma" since December 20.
THIRTY-THREE DAYS ! But, who's counting ?
My son-in-law, That's who.
But I digress...
My daughter asked that I stay longer to help with the baby. I quickly said I could do that.
Plan A was for her mother-in-law (known as GRAMMY) to come up from Texas for a week, give me a break, and then I would be back on Gammy duty the following week.
Plan A would have worked except that GRAMMY, not to be confused with Gammy, fell and hurt her knee the first night she was here.
I was back on duty the next morning. I'm glad to report Grammy is doing 'ok' but was unable to return to help with the kiddos.
Yes, I know I'm rambling, so I'll make the rest short and sweet.
Why was the carpet in the hallway squishy?
Because a pipe broke and allowed many gallons of water into areas throughout the house.
Why were there water spots on the ceiling?
Because all the snow and ice caused the roof to leak.
Why was the house so cold ?
Because the restoration crew who came in with fans to dry out the carpet, walls, ceiling, insulation, etc., caused a malfunction in the heating unit and shut it down.
Keep in mind it's three, count them ONE, TWO, THREE degrees outside and we have no heat OR water.
What we do have is a four-year old and a five-day-old baby in the house.
But, I digress...
Yes, we have all survived. I have even managed to function with only two pair of shoes and four "outfits"for a month.
Needless to say, I'm very, very tired of these clothes and will probably burn them when I arrive home.
