It's been awhile since I've had a chance to join in for Fun Monday, either to follow the rules...or not. Molly, Molly, Miss Molly is our hostess this week. Here's what she has to say about Fun Monday:
" I am excited and honored to host this week's Fun Monday. For your assignment, I would like you to describe a happy memory from your childhood. If possible, include pictures with your reminiscing. Perhaps, for some us remembering the past may bring back some unhappy times too. But, for today, let us remember the good times."
OK, since my new nickname is Sugar Mama, I just couldn't resist posting this photo. There is no doubt, this seven year-old will never forget drinking a neon-blue Jolly Rancher Slushee...then a few hours later up-chucking it.
OK. As ALWAYS, I will closely follow the rules of Fun Monday !
Memories of Childhood:
Top to Bottom. Left to Right.
1) Rick Rack Patty Wack Give the Dog a Bone. My mom made most of my clothes, and I loved it when she would sew rick-rack on my dresses. There is a "theme" here of very straight, very straight short bangs. My dad was the stylist and he insisted that they were s.t.r.a.i.g.h.t.! If they weren't, he just kept cutting them shorter and shorter until they were perfect.
2) Senior Picture. Antlers High School. 1969. Yup, that flip is real. Shellacked with about a can of Aqua-Net Hair Spray.
3) Unibrow. Pre-plucking days. Ratting the hair was popular.
4) Mannequin Hair. More shellacking. Mom made this dress, too. It was blue and gold double knit and very, very short. I think it may have been the one I was sent home from school in. (Notice the use of my prepositions in this sentence.)
5) Permanent Hair. Mom decided it would be fun to see what happens with a Toni Curl. I was scarred for life.
6) Crooked Teeth AND Short Bangs. This photo looks like someone took a handful of teeth and threw them at my face...and missed.
7) Can my bangs be any shorter? This is another dress my mom made for me. Edward Scissor Hands Dad cut my bangs.
8) One of my first photos. I don't think my dad had his shears yet.
9) Little Cowgirl. This photo was taken at the Pushmataha County Fair. I remember it like it was yesterday. Notice the high rise jeans. Such a fashion statement I must have made that day.
So, you can see here that I was pretty much a dweeby-dork most of my childhood...Now, I'm just a dweeby-dorky-mom/gammy.
