Grand Junction: Art on the Corner

Here's today's challenge:

Every town across America has something artsy about it. Most cities have a public art program, although it may take a little bit of research to find where all the displays are located. My idea is to seek out the artsy side of the towns we live in or near, post the photo or photos and maybe write a short description of the art and the artist. If there is currently no display of Public Art in your area, then show us how your town decorates to invite visitors to your area. Banners, Welcome signs, etc.

I love downtown Grand Junction. Sometimes I just meander up and down this serpentine little Main Street to savor all the sights, sounds, and smells.

Round Robin

Photograph something as viewed as an assortment...something that comes in different varieties. For example, it could be a bunch of flowers, or nuts, or crayons, or birds. The sky's the limit!

So how about it, Robins? Will you show us blooms or bottles, bows or butterflies, or beads or beans? How about a a jar of assorted nails, or a box of chocolates? Anything that comes in different varieties is on the menu, from donuts to ducks. Pick your subject, take your photo(s), and get ready to post the result on Saturday, April 19th.

Your One Perfect Scene Captioned:

Here's the idea. Grab your cameras, venture forth into the world, and find that one perfect scene in the viewfinder. Photograph it, and then name it. The one perfect scene could be in black and white or color. You can use special props provided by your photo editing program, and it can be of anything you are inspired to photograph. Want it to be exotic? Go for it. Want it to be surreal? Cool, can't wait to see it! Want it to be stark reality, sure, why not? As I have been traveling about from blog to journal, I have noticed some wonderful descriptions of what it was like to take the photo being displayed, and what the photo means to you. So, let's take it all one step further by providing a caption.

Some of you may remember our Boxer, Junior.  Well, here are two of his five grandchildren. There are 2 males and 3 females. They will be three weeks old this weekend. (The two pictured are sisters.)

Round Robin Challenge

Are you all ready to EAT YOUR VEGETABLES? Tee Hee. I hope so, because that is the subject of our next Round Robin Challenge! And that challenge will take place on Saturday, February 9th. Jill, one of our newest members,who authors the blog, "Letting Crazy Take A Spin" recently submitted the idea, and here is what she says...

"Anything veggie related. Veggies can be so interesting."

So, does that mean you should take a photo of yourself eating veggies? No, of course not. But you could photograph one of your very favorite vegetables to have with dinner. Or maybe a lot of vegetables on display, like at the grocery store or market stand. How about your favorite salad? Sure, why not? As long as it is veggie related you will be on track. Even if you HATE vegetables, you can take a picture of the one you hate the most, and then tell us why. LOL. Personally, I love my veggies, and I can think of a thousand different ways this challenge can be done. But first, every once in a while it's a good idea to review the rules a bit, so lets do that now...

I love potatoes. I love potatoes anyway you can imagine them being prepared... hash browned, french-fried, mashed, riced, souped, baked, twice-baked, third-baked, boiled, au gratin, poached (can you poach potatoes?), potato chipped, Pringled, casseroled, stringed in a can. I even love raw potatoes with salt on them. Sweet potatotes, too, with a bit of butter and brown sugar. Bring 'em on. I can eat my weight in potatoes.

That low-carb diet would never work for me. Dr. Atkins and the people at South Beach were just baking barking up the wrong tree as far as I am concerned.

Give me my potatoes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
