Anytime the suitcases are dragged out to be packed for one of our trips, our three Boxers instinctively know what's getting ready to happen.
In their minds, they are thinking, "Oh. Here we go again. Leaving us with a house sitter here in sub-freezing temperatures while they go to a warm sunny place for two weeks."
If our dogs could, they would be dialing some help-line number to report us for neglect and abandonment.
It may be silly, but I do tell them good-bye and hug and pet and love on them before leaving.
Each dog responds in a different way.
Ginger bends in that "Boxer-C" fashion wagging her entire backside and snuggles up to my neck, slathering it with slobbery licks and kisses.
Lola jumps in the truck anytime a door is opened, hoping that we won't notice her. Dragging her out almost breaks my heart. She hangs on for dear life, adding new claw marks to the seats, console, steering wheel . . . anything she can latch onto.
June Bug goes upstairs, gets in her bed, and pouts. I always have to go back inside to tell her good-bye. She will not make eye contact, literally turning her back to me.
With all that being said, there is no doubt, I MISS MY DOGS !
They are the true definition of unconditional love.
You can imagine how much I loved finding this dog next door to our room . . .
Meet Maya.
Here she is in camouflauge.
Maya made the perfect model.
Yup.
Maya is a Boxer.
When you live on the beach, a little sand on the lips doesn't bother you much.
Two portraits of Maya.
One in subtle colors.
One black and white.
Maya hangs out here at the Budha Garden Spa at Hotel Akumal Caribe.
If you are ever here, be sure to book an appointment for one of their many services.
My treat to me this time was a ninety minute massage with Ruby.
Oh !
My !
Goodness !

Oh. My. Goodness. I love our dog. And that one you're fostering on vacation is pretty darn cute. How could you not love that mug?

I arranged for that vacation boxer, just for you! Merry Christmas!!! (so glad she can help ease the time apart, what a cutie!!!)
I'd sure like to tell you the kids always pined away for you...but they didn't suffer much, at least with me!!! Even though nothing is the same as Mom and Dad!!!
Aspen has just started sleepin in bed instead of the crib---she has both Bubba AND Junior tendencies---you sort this out---and no, she does not snore!!!!
