Oh, how I've missed being a part of Mon Funday ! So, it's with great pleasure that I introduce you to Today's hostess. Drum roll please...
LIFE ACCCORDING TO JAN AND JER. (Please clink the link to find out who else is playing according to her rules today.)
This is what she has challenged us with, "Since the Lazy Hazy Days of summer are upon us now, tell us what activities you enjoy doing outside and how do you stay cool. Share some photos of both if you wish. "
(Well, just scroll down to the next post for our staying cool photos.)
There are many, many activities we enjoy during the Lazy Hazy Days of summer here at The Asylum, but the most recent that has been documented is:
FISHIN' in the Dark with POPS and HAIR-WEE.
This is the setting for our Lazy Hazy Days of Summer Adventure.
These are the characters in our adventure: Pops and Hair-Wee.
See them sitting over there across the pond on that bench?
It takes a lot of preparation in order to catch a fish.
One must first stretch the worm.
The next step is to impale the worm onto a hook.
The right type of equipment is a must.
Here we see the super duper Sponge Bob rod and reel.
(Please note the bracelet Hair-Wee is wearing that his dad made for him before leaving for Iraq.)
Proper fishing attire is recommended.
It helps attract more fish if the blue and white striped shirt is worn wrong-side-out.
The classic fisherman look is dress socks with grubby tennis shoes.
Always have an adult cast for you.
Patience is a virture. Sit and wait...and wait...and wait.
Maybe wait and wait and wait while Pops talks on his phone.
To be continued.
(This is to teach YOU to wait and wait and wait to see if Pops and Hair-Wee actually did catch a fish.)

What an ideal setting for a little relaxing fishing. The bracelet is lovely, I bet it makes Hair-Wee feel close to his dad.

That looks like a lovely way to while away an afternoon. Did they catch anything?

First of all, what great photos, love the reflections. Next..I'm sure Hair-wee will catch lots of fish with that special Sponge Bob fishing rod and with his inside out shirt, that will really bring him luck. That is so sweet he wears the bracelet from his Dad. War is so hard on families. May God Bless him. Thanks for playing FM

OMG...you had me smiling and laughing down to the end of the post! I so enjoyed your post...and oh boy, how I love to be in that place right now!

That's great that he has a bracelet to help feel close to his dad. Where is that pond??? Who will admit to dressing him that morning???

Well at least Pops is not wearing braces with his socks--or am I getting them confused with suspenders? My best friend has a wonderful black and white photo of her little tyke son fishing with his grandfather. It is a real treasure as I'm sure you'll treasure these, Swampy.
Will check back to see if the Boyz caught enough for a fish fry.

I love your photos. I remember fishing as a kid, it sure looks like Hair-Wee enjoys it more than I did - maybe I just didn't have the right idea of how to dress!

it's the stretching the worm part that I can't handle.
I wore my shirt inside out the other day to a court viewing.
