For some reason, with all the politcial ads...many dealing with our troops all over the World, this song keeps playing in my head. Even though it's about the Viet Nam War, the words apply to every person we've ever lost in any war. It's just over 200 seconds long but says so much.
Since Typepad has "upgraded" I've not been able to link the actual Youtube video here, so just clink this link. And if anyone can tell me what's different about posting from Youtube, I'm all ears.
Jimmy Fortune is, by far, my favorite tenor of all time ! And, I may be wrong, but I think he wrote the words and music to this song.

*sniff, sniff, sigh*

Sorry Swampy, I can't help you because I don't know typepad. Wow....powerful song. I echo the sentiment of the previous poster. And thanks so much for your kind words on my blog. It takes me approximately a half hour to make each card, but it depends upon how much detail is involved.

I'm not familiar with the song, but I don't have to be. The sentiment is clear in the title.
You should also check out Pat Benatar's "Too Long a Soldier" from her Wide Awake in Dreamland album (Chrysalis Records, 1988)
Whoever wins tonight, I hope he has the good grace to bring our guys home now!
