Miss Mariposa in the Phillipines is our hostess for Mon Funday. Just in case you didn't know, she was three years old this past week. Happy THIRD Birthday, Mariposa. Seems as though having a birthday caused her to have a high which is the topic for today's assignment...HIGHS. Here's what she says...
If you could share to us 3-5 high moments in your lives...this could be funny moments...the you can't believe you did it moments...the "I told you so" moments...or the times we asked the ground to go open and eat us moments! You need not write a book to explain them, the highlights will do.
Swampy has left the building...ok not really she's watching Hanna Montana with the Swampbug (better known as Little Miss P, or the cutest child in the world (see post below)...I am not biased at all. Anyways, I am Swampspawn and I have taken over for the time being so deal with it!
I am at Mom's house for a week enjoying a little time off. As many of you may know my mother never puts her camera down. This is not a new thing but with the invention of digital cameras it has worsened in the recent past. She takes pictures of EVERYTHING! So I have been going through boxes and boxes of old pictures today laughing at how funny we all looked way back when.
When I heard what the Fun Monday topic was I decided to hijack the blog because I saw many things going through those boxes that could have been a high, or the people in the pictures could have been high or the hair in the pictures was high (think 1980's bangs). So here we go...
This picture is from 1970. That is my father in the tub. Was he high? HHHMMM maybe well probably. This picture has been the topic of many conversations over the years and this was actually the first time I have seen it and have proof that it exists.
So here is another picture from way back when. This is my dad and mom. Had it not been taken in front of my grandparents house who were devout Church of Christ Christians I would have sworn that my mother was high for wearing that rat on her head. I am not sure what possessed her to purchase a wig in the first place but then to buy one that resembled a rodent...yes she had to be high.
And then there's my sister...it's probably 1987 in this picture, Christmastime...or was it 4th of July? Not sure, she seems to be dressed like the 1987 Patriot Parade Princess but that is a Christmas tree in the background so your guess is as good as mine. One way or another she was definitely high in order to wear those blue spandex pants.
And then there's me...no I cannot make fun of the rest of my family without poking a little fun at myself. This picture was taken before a New Years Eve 1980s party last year. I was not high I can say that for a fact however, my bangs were 5 inches high at one point in the evening! And who says size doesn't matter?
Happy Mon Funday! Hopefully my sister won't kill me on Wednesday when she gets here! :)

Oh,you are in s-o-o-o much trouble !
Moral to this story: Never let your daughter know where you keep your passwords, especially your Typepad blog.

I would not have believed that wig if I did not see it!!! It matches the dog, but it's more poofy!!!

Great pictures! I'm pretty sure you'll be in big trouble when your sister gets there. Those blue spandex pants were the best!

Great Pic. But I think we all have time that make people wonder just how High we where.

oh yes... I remember when those wigs were hot. I mean they were! Sweated like a banshee beneath them.

My Olivia, what big bangs you have! And do you always allow such liberties as taken in that last photo? It was the '80s after all. On second thought, who ARE these people, I'm so confused. Re prevous post, no question about who's the good grammy. even when inflicting musical pain.

GREAT highs, even if a little hijacked! Hope you and the cutest child in the world have a great holiday.

I'm not even high and I thought this post was hilarious! If I posted a picture like that of my sister....she wouldn't be visiting me....ever! And I love your pink spandex....very HAWT!

What can I say? Just EXCELLENT highs!!! Those blue spandex would have chased rats away if you ask me...the rats being in your mom's 'do'! [kidding!!! But, you started it.] I seriously LOVE the photo of you tho. And actually...the photo of your father is super...I would've done something like that myself.
Hope you enjoyed your 'time off'.
My Monday post is published. Stop by if you can, I'd love to have you join me today. But, you'll need to scroll down below the Ranch Hand Breakfast photos to get to my High Moments!! Happy day to you.

I should think watching Hannah Montana would rate as a high moment in anyones life .... :-p

What great pictures!!!! And I agree - the neon blue tights were a definite low moment, but the smile on her face was high!

haha! Not only was the post most entertaining, but you followed in your mother's foosteps and sort-of-kind-of broke the rules! Awesome.
Enjoy the Thanksgiving holidays!!!!!

Wow... some amazing photos there... I'm realising that when I'm in my 60s I'm going to look back on photos and video of me now (24) and cringe with embarrassment. So I'm trying to take enough of my husband as well!
Thanks for hijacking this FM :)

Hahaha!! Brilliantly hijacked, Swampy's Daughter. This makes me wonder what scary photos might be lurking in MY parents' photo albums...*shudder*

Love the photo of your Dad being pulled by a car in a tub, looks like fun. I had a wig very similar to your Mom, they were very popular back in the day!
Posted by: Janis | November 24, 2008 at 12:26 PM
Wow, I hadn't seen spandex for years. If you were my sister, I would be plottin' and plannin'... be afraid.... be very afraid...

Haha! Theres something missing from these pictures! Leg warmers! They were a must down here with the spandex pants! (You should hijack the blog more often, with some embarrassing type pictures of Swampy!)

I enjoyed every one of your moments. You are just as entertaining as your Mother - it must be in the "genes".

I love the one of Swampy and the Swampspawn Dad outside the house, complete with an "S" for Swampy on the front door!!
I grew up in a C of C household too ... I wouldn't have been allowed a skirt *quite* that short ... :o)
That first photo is just amazing, I love all the old cars!
