Blogging Singin' Chicks Carnival

Well, I think there is a Blogging Chicks Carnival today. To find out for sure, check it out HERE.   If there isn't, I'll just have my own little carnival and call it "Sing Along with Swampy."  Actually, I was asked once to sing back up...they asked me to back way up from the microphone.

Cerealously, turn back the hands of time to the 1960's. Picture a young couple walking home together from the shopping center in a small Oklahoma town. The young man tries to impress the young lady who is a talented musician and is already composing songs.

He says, "You know the Beatles will never make it."

She smiles.

That might explain the first autographed CD cover, "To my first flame...The Beatles Rock." Yes, that CD is to theHansMan from theBeckaroo.100_9357

To set the stage, before reading on, listen to George on the Jukebox and then listen to a tribute to Momaroo.

Have you ever heard, "Angels Among Us" by Alabama?"  This song was written by Becky and Mr. Don Goodman. Whether you believe in angels or not, this song has found its place in the hearts of many, mine for sure ! The verse with the childrens' voices always gives me goose bumps. If you have not READ THIS STORY, about what that song did, it is well worth your time to read it now.  Becky's has also written songs recorded by Conway Twitty, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Glen Campbell, Emmylou Harris, Helen Reddy, John Anderson...just to name a few.

This is where the Youtube Screens would appear, but since I still don't know how to embed them, just click on the links above.

I have listened to Becky's music 'ever since' marrying the HansMans. Because the stories she tells with her words and music are about life in Oklahoma, life in general, the Viet Nam War (Time Stands Still), dancin' with strangers, Paris France, the Cherokee People, Johnny Cash, and on and on, I have continued to listen and love it for thirteen years. Stevie Nicks has a Becky Hobbs' sound and no one can burn up those keys like Becky.  Her music is a combination of Honky Tonk, Rock-a-Billy, Western Swing, Beautiful Ballads, and just Good 'Ole Toe Tappin' Down Home Country.

I had the pleasure to meet Becky last summer at The Inn at Price Tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  (the only skyscraper designed by Frank Lloyd Wright)  She was dressed to the nines and I was in my pajamas. What an impression I must have made on my husband's 'old flame.'

Moving along to present day.
Yup, that's Becky at our house poundin' those keys and makin' music like this place has never heard.

Duane Sciacqua, Becky's husband and guitarist.

He has toured with Glenn Frey (Eagles), played with Paul McCartney, Don Henley, Vince Gill, just to mention a few.  He also produces songs for Becky.

Needless to say, it was a wonderful, music-filled two days. We could have listened forever. Thank you Becky and Duane for enriching our lives.

Question:  Does anyone know who Duane is touring with now ?

Hint: He is the 2007 Academy of Country Music Best New Male Vocalist.
That is the topic of a post for next week. Stay tuned for more music.

Very impressive!

angels among us has been a favorite of mine.
... so she wrote that. I'm impressed, too

I don't think I know any celebrities.

Outstanding and informative post, I looked at and listened to all of the links. I never think of myself as a C and W fan; then, I hear something like this music. I look forward to your post with more music.

I heart Becky Hobbs!! I remember you mentioning her before in one of your posts and it brought back some memories. I saw her in concert back in the 80s in OKC with my mom and sister. She is great! And I love the Angels Among Us song.

So if her husband is playing with the 2007 best new male vocalist wouldn't that be Rodney Atkins? I love that guy! I love his story too. Great guy it sounds like. I think they are going to be in OKC this next week. Shoot, and I just passed on two tickets. Darn.

Wow... very impressive. Glad you told me to pop by this weekend! (I would have anyway :) )

DubYaT: Thanks.

PAMELA: What are you doing up at 2:30 a.m.? Yup, she wrote it.

MJD: Glad you went to the links. Most people don't take the time, but in this post, I thought the links were important to help tell the story.

JULIE: You win ! Yes, it's Rodney Atkins. Do you want to go to the concert? If so, call me. I think we can arrange some tickets and maybe Meet and Greet passes. Becky is one sweet gal. Duane is a kick in the pants and together they are just a hoot to be around.

TheOtherBear: We were posting at the same time. Thanks for ALWAYS visiting with or without an invitation.

She's beautiful...I'l hafta check her out!!!!

I totally LOVE the song Angels Among Us.

Very cool!!!

great post

Thanks for sharing the details about your friend. So many incredibly talented people like her are "behind the scenes" somewhat in music.

I never knew she wrote "Angels Among Us," but that is a fantastic song.

It's been a long hard day. Becky's magic really hits the spot.

MSUGal: Where have you been. So glad to hear from you. I visited at your place and read about your Black Mood Ring, but I can't post a comment because of the "no anonymous option." BloggerBooger doesn't recognize my user name and password anymore. BloggerBooger never did like me.

RWA: Thanks for visiting. I headed to your place and read about the need for rain and all the prayers. Those prayers must have worked here, too, because we got one of our famous 5 inch rains last evening...one drop every five inches...every drop counts. I can't comment at your place either...see reason why on MSUGal's comment above.

MIN: So glad to be of help. Could you send some of your rain to RWA?

Very cool! How fun!

How fun! To know someone famous. Very cool (and to say that Hans dated her - even cooler)

LOVE the pics and info on Becky! And thanks for stopping my blog this AM.

Visiting from Blogging Chicks. Thanks for visiting.

I can't answer the Duane question, because I don't even know who Becky is LOL. But great photos, and neat to see her in your home. She looks a lot of fun

Wow, another okie for the books. What a great songwriter! I also grew up in the 60's, boy were those the days!
