Directions and Ingredients :
Start with some steps covered in snow...
Locate a garden hose, thaw it in the hot tub, hook the hose up and spray the steps with water...
This creates a type of luge just outside your front door...
Gently add a little boy...
Fold in another little boy...
Blend together one more little boy...
Dump into the mixture one great big boy...
Sprinkle in a sled, a rope, and a dog...
Sift in a sage brush...
Stir in a generous amount of courage...
Tumble in another dog and a deflated football...
Remove any common sense that the big boy might possess and remove the snow from in front of the big tree.
What's the number for 9-1-1 ?
Generously add cookies...( a plate full for each little boy)
and cups of hot chocolate...
. . . and there you have it...
A Recipe for Fun ..or Disaster... depending on how many bones were broken.
This is a sign-up sheet for those who want to be in charge of theHansMan for awhile:

What a fun and cozy post! I'll deal with theHansMan for awhile if the cookies and cocoa come with the job! (Can I try the luge?)

Can I send my kids to your house for the weekend? They'll take care of theHansMan as soon as they're done sledding, eating the cookies, drinking the cocoa and sledding some more. Promise!!

Dang, Woman!! When Bethany is a little older I'm totally gonna invite myself over so the HansMan can entertain her!! You have the funnest house!!!!
(Oh, and I've made the drive many times from here. I was younger (much), single, and childless, but I made it from Houston to your necko'thewoods in 14 hours. Yep. Without a ticket! Scary, huh?!)

Woooo that looks like fun!

Maybe because I live in Memphis and we haven't had so much as a snow flurry, but I'm totally jealous! That looks like soooo much fun.

Following you from Mist's blog because of your hilarious advice.
I loved this post and the pics of your gloriously fun day.
Happy Friday!

Looks like everyone had a spledid time. I need to go sleding soon. Thanks for the "recipe"

Sure, Swampy, everyone THINKS you're a nice guy, but here you go, RUBBING IT IN MY FACE HOW MUCH FUN YOU CAN HAVE WITH SNOW AND WATER AND ICE AND SLEDS AND COOKIES AND COCOA AND TESTOSTERONE.

WooHoo!!! I'll mind the kids (large one, too) for ya if I can play too. What a brilliant idea! Wish MY Dad were smart like that when I was a kid. :( I had to shovel it, not play in it. :( So, how many bones were broken? I don't see any pictures of casts, so I assume all is well. You're trying to tell all of us you didn't sit your hiney in a sled and try it out yourself??? Humph, riiiiiiiight. D :)

Fun, fun, fun. That's the only thing that makes snow worth while. :)
Have a great weekend tending to Hansman. :)

That looks like a blast.

What fun! But I don't think I'll let my kids see the pics, because our front steps are pretty well the only exit from the house and I don't want to break my neck on the way out of the house!

LOL, great post.
I love the photo of the dog jumping up as your beloved is sliding downhill.

Wow! That looks fun! I miss those crazy HansMan's ideas! Was that JuneBug jumping for him on his way down? I remember trying to sled with a dog around...I usually ended up getting tackled mid-hill.

What a delightful playtime! I was smiling and laughing here. Almost felt the cold from those rosy cheecks. Great fun, thanks for sharing!

LOL! Too funny! No thanks, I have a 480 month old of my own. He'll be turning 40 soon, but only in body.

MIN: Of course, you can try the luge. It's still there, along with the sleds, ropes, and dogs. Cookies are always baking here and I make a delish homemade hot chocolate.
Come on over.
JILLYD: Party's On! Bring on the Kids.
STEPHANIE: Pack up the car and bring Bethany. We have activities for her age, too. Take the southern route this time of year, though.
CLAUDIA: You know it. Lots of fun. Almost too much fun.
RACHEL: Have only been to Nashville once for CMT. Had a blast. Rode that stinking roller coaster at OpryLand Twice, Twice. Do you actually get snow there?
FRINGES: Come back again. Never know what's going to happen here.
MARK: Anytime you need a recipe, just call Swampy. I can usually stir something up in my cauldron.
ROBIN: You just have to come join us. The door is always open and this time of year the steps are slick as snot.
FF-DIANE: First of all, thank you so much for that e-mail. I do appreciate it. No broken bones. You are welcome, too. Of course I sat my hiney in that sled. But I had the camera.
HER INDOORS: Well, we didn't have to really call 9-1-1. But I held my breath a lot of the time. Come on over.
BRIAN: Tending to theHansMan is more of a job than one might surmise. You have a great weekend, too. Feel better.
KARMYNR: A blast it was. Stilll going on.
HEATHER: Aw, just crawl out the window. There are only so many bones you can break.
MOMto3CUBS: She went nuts with every trip down those stairs.
EQUONI: Yes, that's June Bug. Bubba was a little more laid back. He hung around the cookies and hot chocolate.
PAULINE: They sledded until it was just too dark and too cold. Love those rosy cheeks, too.

MARY(MERT): We were posting at the same time...Like I tell theHansMan on a regular basis: "You didn't grow up, you just stood around and got big."

That looks like fun!!!! especially if you are a pre-teen boy....Not a MOM!!!!!
Posted by: Janet a.k.a Wonder Mom | January 27, 2007 at 06:39 AM
can you two adopt me and my daughter? you are so cool!
Posted by: MSUgal86 | January 27, 2007 at 05:12 PM
JANETaka:WONDERMOM: Actually, it was pretty much fun even as a Mom. The big one knew better and the little ones' parents were just across the street. I was in charge of camera, cookies, and hot chocolate.
MSUGAL86: You might want some input from my girls before you send me the adoption paper.
